CLIPPED Classes -BRITISH CAVY COUNCIL NOTICE (Published in Cavies Magazine December 2014)
Clipped longhaired Cavies do not constitute separate varieties
recognised by the BCC, rather they are forms of existing varieties that can be
shown as Pets or in Restricted Conditions as described below.
Classes for clipped longhaired can only be put on as a separate section
of the show, with no cross duplication between this and the Open Show.
Clipped Longhairs should be shown evenly clipped, with coat down to and
just touching the show board to create an attractive appearance.
Classes for Clipped Longhaired should be judged as per the existing
(full) Standards, with the exception of stipulation in regard to the length of
coat. Longhairs shown in the Pet Section should be judged on the same basis as
other pets.
BREEDERS CLASS - ALL PIGS TO HAVE BEEN ENTERED IN THE OPEN SHOW BUT MUST
HAVE BEEN BRED BY THE OWNER - CAN BE A BOAR OR SOW - ROSETTE AWARDED TO THE
WINNER
NATIONAL CAVY CLUB STAR SCHEME
The Star
Scheme is separate competition run by the National Cavy Club which enables
exhibitors to claim awards for PUREBREDS and PETS cavies which do consistently
well in the breed classes, but may not go on to compete in the challenges.
The number
of stars collected for each breed class win is directly related to the star
status of the relevant show as advertisedin Cavies Magazine or on the top ofthe Schedule.
HOW TO CLAIM STAR AWARDS
Valid Star
claims are subject to the exhibitor being a member of National Cavy Club.Membership started part way through the year
must gain the majority of the stars after that date.
First prize
cards at star shows, for breed classes only to count towards prize claims in
the Star Scheme.
The awards
are for stars won by the same cavy.
There is a
minimum entry of 2 required in the breed class to count for a claim.
Please
ensure sex and breed of cavy are on the front of the card and the name of your
cavyis on the back.
The Judge
must be a member of the National Cavy Club.
Exhibitors
may claim star prizes for more than one cavy in the same 12 months period
Each cavy
may only receive one of each award per year either 10, 20 30 40 or 50 stars
Cards used
to claim stars may only be used once and must be signed offby the star secretary
The scheme
runs within a 12 month period 1st January to 31st
December each year.
All cards
(or photo copies of the cards) should be sent to the Star Scheme Secretary AS
SOON AS YOU HAVE REACHED ANY NUMBER OF THE STARS (ie 10, 20. 30. 40,50) PLEASE
NO NOT LEAVE TO THE END OF THE YEAR, who will return the award.
The closing
date for claims is December 31stof each year. Please enclose SAE with the appropriate postage for your
award.
Successful
claims for 10, 20, 30 and 40 will receive a certificate, 50 stars will receive
a small trophy to keep.
All star
claims awarded will be published in Cavies and the National Cavy Club Year
Book.
